The subjects of the study were nine nurse officers who were participated in Korean War. The data were collected from November 2002 through February 2003 by listening of subjects expression their experiences ?? during Korean War. Contents of interviews were recorded with voice-recorder and transcribed to maintain data integrity. Analysis of the data was made through the Colaizzi method. Seven main themes were induced from this study. 1. In early stage of the war, they were very confused and little prepared without any prediction of long term war situation. 2. Nurse officers experienced severe mass casualties. 3. Although nurse officers were in extreme condition, they performed nursing services 24 hours continuously without any shift changes. 4. They have felt extreme restriction of personal physiological needs. 5. They actualized real meaning of Nightingale??s nursing spirit. 6. They were very proud of serving for the country and lived as leading women leaders. 7. Nurse officers have appreciated survival from crisis situations and have expressed gratification over their dedication to the country.
